Product Description

Aluminized-silicon Steel Coil ASTM A463 AS240g for Insulation Application

Hot dip Aluminized / Aluminium-Silicon (AS) coating steel is produced by immersing the prepared strip in a molten bath of Aluminium-Silicon. The composition of the bath consists of 8% to 11% silicon and the balance is aluminium.

Aluminized steel is carbon steel coated through the hot-dip process with an aluminum-silicon alloy. The aluminum coating provides excellent resistance to high temperatures and a bright appearance, while the silicon promotes better adherence of the coating to the base metal.

Aluminized sheet and coil maintain their bright appearance and provide long-term service at temperatures up to 900 degrees F — a significantly higher temperature than comparable zinc-coated products can withstand. Although aluminum corrodes faster than zinc, the oxide layer that forms on aluminum adheres tightly, effectively protecting the base metal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum temperature Aluminized Silicon Steel can withstand?
It can maintain its appearance and provide long-term service at temperatures up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit.
How does the corrosion resistance compare to Galvanized Steel?
Aluminized Silicon coated steel is 3 to 5 times more corrosion-resistant than standard Galvanized steel.
What is the composition of the coating?
The coating bath typically consists of 8% to 11% silicon, with the remainder being aluminium.
What are the primary applications for this material?
It is ideal for kitchen equipment, bakeware, microwave ovens, rain collectors, and various construction uses like roofing and curtain walls.
What surface treatments are available for the coils?
We offer treatments including Chromated, Oiled, Skin pass, and Anti-finger Print options.
What thickness and width ranges do you provide?
The thickness ranges from 0.2mm to 8.0mm, and the width ranges from 20mm up to 1500mm.
